ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR REMEDIAL PROGRAMME
a. Candidates applying for Remedial Programme must possess at least three (3)Credits in Science, Arts & Social Science subjects and any two (2) relevant Passes at ‘O’ level in the other subjects offered in the School at not more than two (2) Sittings.
1. Agricultural Science, Biology, Chemistry, Geography & Physics
2. Arabic, French, Hausa, History, Islamic Studies & Literature in English
3. Accounting, Civic Education, Commerce, Economics & Government
General Subjects:
English Language and Mathematics
b. Candidates admitted for the Remedial programme MUST register and pass WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, OR NBAIS Exams at Credit level in the subjects they are deficient.
c. Candidates applying for Remedial programme MUST also register for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and obtain the minimum pass mark approved by the University and MUST choose Umaru Musa Yar’adua University as their 1st choice. The Duration of the Programme is one year.
2.0 ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR IJMBE PROGRAMME
a. Candidates applying for IJMBE Programme MUST possess at least five (5) ‘O’ level Credits in three (3) Basic Science, Arts and Social Science Subjects, plus English Language and Mathematics, at not more than two (2) Sittings. For candidates from educationally less developed states (ELDS) in Nigeria, deficiency is allowed for English. The deficiency however, must be remedied before the end of the IJMBE Programme. The Duration of the Programme is one year (See the appendix below)

Requirement: Five (5) “O Level Credits including English and Mathematics 2 credits must be from Biology, Chemistry and any other of Physics, Mathematics and Geography.
Duration: 2 years.
Social and Management Sciences (SMS)
- Public Administration
- Advance Diploma in Public Administration (ADPA)
Requirement: Five (5) “O Level Credits including English and Mathematics Government/History, and Economics or Geography; or Government/Civic Education
Professional Experience: officer on Grade Level 06/07 with relevant experience and qualification might be considered. Candidates with pass Diploma in relevant field can be admitted into Diploma II provided the candidate posses ‘O Level requirement.
Duration: Minimum of 2 sessions and Maximum of 4 sessions.
- Local Government and Development Studies
Requirement: GCE, SSCE, NECO, Teacher Grade II with at least a pass in English and Mathematics
Professional Experience: officer on Grade Level 06/07 with relevant experience and qualification might be considered. Candidates with pass Diploma in relevant field can be admitted into Diploma II provided the candidate posses ‘O Level requirement.
Duration: Minimum of 2 sessions and Maximum of 4 sessions.
- Accounting
Requirement: Four (4) ‘O Level Credits in relevant field including Mathematics and English or Certificate from a recognized institution (ICAN, CIBN, etc) plus 2 ‘O Level Credits.
Duration: Four (4) Semesters
- Security Studies
Requirement: Five (5) “O Level Credits including English and Mathematics, Government/Civic Education/ and any other two (2) Social Science or Art subjects
Professional Experience: Special waiver will be given to service personnel provided they have five (5) credits including Mathematics and English and can produce evidence of employment or service.
Duration: Four (4) Semesters
Humanities with Specialization in:
- Arabic Studies
Requirement: Five (5) ‘O Level Credits including Arabic or Islamic Studies. Also Candidates with Higher Islamic School Certificate from recognized Islamic School are eligible for admission into the programme
Duration: Four (4) Semesters
Law with Specialization in:
- Shari’a and Civil Law
Requirement: SSCE (or equivalent) with at least 5 credits in any other Social Science or Arts subject in not more than two sittings, Teachers Grade II (passed) with at least 4 Credits including Languages, SIS/HIS, NBAIS with at least Credit overall grade, (or minimum of 5Bs in the core course).
Duration: Four (4) Semesters
- Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)
Requirement: SSCE (or equivalent) with at least 5 Credits in any other Social Science or Arts subject in not more than two sittings, Degree or Diploma in the field of Law or Sharia etc.
Duration: Two (2) Semesters
Sciences with Option in:
- Industrial Chemistry
Requirement: Three (3) ‘O Level Credits with attempt in any three (3) of the following:- Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Mathematics and Geography and obtain at least two (2) passes from Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Mathematics and Geography.
