QUALIFICATION: 

Candidates for the positions listed must satisfy the following criteria:

 

1.PROFESSOR: 

i) Candidates must be holders of Ph.D in relevant fields with not less than 10 years teaching, research and professional/industrial experience after the doctorate degree in a University system.

 

ii) The candidates must also show evidence of distinguished contribution to scholarship and at least fifteen (15) journal papers in the candidate’s discipline to be seen on Google Scholar.

 

iii) He/she must show evidence of exceptional research record and a reasonable number of scholarly publications in reputable journals, both local and international.

 

iv) He/she must show evidence of proven teaching ability,  evidence of capability to initiate and carry out independent research works as well as supervise student research and projects.

 

v) The person must possess sound administrative skills and show evidence of participation in administration within the University system and contribution to the development of the outside community.

 

vi) At least ten (10) years research and administrative experience with Ph.D or its equivalent such as MD degree of Nigerian or British universities. In the Clinical Sciences, candidates must have a Fellowship of the West African College of Surgeons/Physicians (FWACS/FWACP) or National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCN) or their equivalents.

 

2. READER: 

i) As in (a) above with a minimum of 7 years cognate teaching, research and academic administrative experience in a University system. Candidates for this position in the Faculty of Engineering must be registered members of COREN.

 

ii) At least seven (7) years research and administrative experience with Ph.D or its equivalent such as MD degree of Nigerian or British universities. In the Clinical Sciences, candidates must have a Fellowship of the West African College of Surgeons/Physicians (FWACS/FWACP) or National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCN) or their equivalents.

 

3. SENIOR LECTURER: 

i) Candidate must be holder of Ph. D in the relevant field with not less than 5 years cognate teaching and research experience in the University system. He/she must have outstanding teaching ability and effectiveness as a University lecturer. The candidate must have a reasonable number of scholarly publications in reputable journals. He/She must be able to initiate and carry out independent research work and also supervise students’ research project up to the doctoral level. The candidate for this position in the Faculty of Engineering must be a registered member of COREN

 

ii) In the Basic Medical Sciences, candidate must have a Ph.D or its equivalent such as MD degree of Nigerian or British universities.

 

In the Clinical Sciences, candidates must have a Fellowship of the West African College of Surgeons/Physicians (FWACS/FWACP) or National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCN) or their equivalents.

 

4. LECTURER I: 

1) Candidate must be holder of Ph.D in the relevant field with not less than 3 years relevant teaching and research and/or industrial experience in universities/institutions of higher learning. In addition, candidates must have at least three (3)publications in reputable refereed journals.

 

ii) In contribution to industrial growth and development, candidate is expected to have research experience evidenced by publication of reports, research papers, books, patents etc. and presentation of papers in conferences, seminars and symposia.

 

iii) Surgeons/Physicians (FWACS/FWACP) or National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCN) or their equivalents.

 

5. LECTURER II: 

i) Candidate must be holder of Ph.D in the relevant fields; and must show teaching and research abilities; or Master’s degree or its equivalent plus at least 3 years relevant teaching, research and/or industrial experience.

 

ii) MB, BS degree or its equivalent.

 

6. ASSISTANT LECTURER: 

A good Master’s degree or its equivalent qualification with at least a CGPA of 3.5 or its equivalent on a 5-Point grade scale, or its professional equivalent plus at least 3 years relevant teaching, research and/or industrial experience.

 

7. GRADUATE ASSISTANT; 

Candidate must have at least a Second Class (Honours) degree with Upper Division.

QUALIFICATIONS 

MEDICAL DOCTOR:  Candidate must possess a degree in Medicine (MBBS or its equivalent)from a recognised institution and registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), with evidence of Microsoft Certification.

 

PHARMACY TECHNICIAN:

Candidate must possess a West African School Certificate (WASC) and should have successfully completed a three or four years training programme in a recognised health institution and obtained the registration of the relevant National Practice Board of Nigeria for Technician Cadres.

 

PHARMACIST: 

Candidate must possess a B.Pharm or B.Sc (Pharm) Honours degree, registrable with the Pharmacist Board of Nigeria and completion of the National Youth Service Corps with evidence of Microsoft Certification.

 

NURSE:

Candidate must possess N.R.N. or N.C. N. or N.R. N/N.C.M. or B.Sc with evidence of Microsoft Certification.

 

MEDICAL  LABORATORY SCIENTIST 

Candidate must possess a B.Sc (Professional) degree, registrable with professional bodies (i.e. NISLT, IMLT) with evidence of Microsoft Certification.

 

MEDICAL RECORDS OFFICER: 

Candidate must possess WASC/GCE (0/L) with credit passes in five (5) subjects, including Health Science plus evidence of Microsoft Certification.

 

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE 

Successful candidates will be required to assume duty as soon as possible and will be on probation for the first three (3) years.

 

Thereafter, they will retire at the approved age of 65 years, or 70 years for those on the professorial cadre.

 

Candidates could be allowed to transfer their service to the Rivers State University. Other conditions are similar to those obtained in other Institutions of higher learning in Nigeria.
