Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board Midwives Recruitment 2022: In its bid to ensure safe motherhood and new born care, with the objectives of reducing maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality caused by poor maternal child health services, improving primary Health care outcomes, and increasing the life expectancy and quality of care for motherhood and new borns, especially in rural communities, The State Primary Health Care Management Board wishes to announce openings for the position of Registered Midwives across the 44 LGs of the State.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Registered Midwife provides emotional support and guidance before, during and after labour. They also identify high risk pregnancies and educate patients and their families on antenatal care and reproductive health and are also members of the health care team in the primary health facility. She will monitor and observe the condition of pregnant Women, obtain medical and family history, and conduct required screening tests. Assist mothers during their labor processes by providing high-quality midwifery care. Follow-up care for new mothers and their babies. Educate new mothers on breast feeding, bathing and dressing babies. Instruct and educate mothers on related baby health care issues. Administer medications as prescribed by the consulting physicians. Educate pregnant women on gynaecological health care. Instruct and counsel women on birth control issues, and to work with other health care service providers at the primary health care facility level.

 

SKILLS REQUIRED

Should be calable of;

  • Recognised the early danger signs of pregnancy.
  • Have an interest in the process of pregnancy and child birth.
  • Carry out labor and deliveries.
  • In making decisions, consider the partograph.
  • Examine newborn infants.
  • Excellent team-working skills.
  • Improving appropriate referral services.

 

The Ideal applicants of this position Must be:

  • An indigene of Kano State, prior experience working in the PHC is an added advantage.
  • Willingness to work in rural communities.
  • Ready to undergo screening, both written and oral.
  • Have basic knowledge of PHC service in the State.
  • Be able to communicate in English (Written and Oral)
  • Have a current Midwifery practice licence.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certificate of Registered Midwife
  • 2 Years of Working Experience as a Registered Midwife (RM)

 

 

RENUMERATION AND CONDITION OF SERVICE

Successful applicants will be engaged based on the agreed renumeration of the Basic Health Care Provision Fund Programme (BHCPF) in  Kano State.
